Links

I decided to do another “Links” post this week.  I might make it a weekly thing again or I might not, we’ll see.  I’ve been thinking a lot about the election lately, so this might be a weighted a little more towards politics than usual.  You’ve been warned.  Anyway, on to the links!

  1. Perry Noble shares some thoughts on next weeks election.  I agree with him, as I said yesterday.  Good stuff.
  2. Pete Wilson has a cool post about their new series, Dream Job.  I love the post and the series (make sure to watch the video) . . . you might see this one at Wellspring one day.
  3. Great post by Greg Surratt on how Christians should engage in politics.
  4. Lifechurch.tv went live this week with a new tool for churches called ChurchMetrics.com.  It’s amazing and it’s free.  I am constantly amazed by these guys!
  5. Wanna be the smartest guy at your election watching party (do they really have those?)  If so, or if you just want to be more informed on election night, check out this great primer for all the races, thoughts, etc.
  6. Great thoughts from the editor of Relevant Magazine on the upcoming election.  You might be noticing a pattern here.
  7. In iPhone news, all iPhone 3G users now have free wifi at Starbucks.  Just what pastors needed, another reason to hang out at Starbucks.
  8. And to close out, one more blog post from my bro-in-law Ryan Fitzgerald.  He shares some great thoughts on Christians and politics.
Have a great weekend.

Links

It’s been quite a while since I did a links post.  Here are some posts that have inspired me recently and one funny link (actually two.)

  1. Three posts by Perry Noble to start us off.  He is doing a series of posts called “Seven Things Senior Pastors want their Staff to Know.”  Check our post one, two and three.  They rock.
  2. I was blow away by this post from Steven Furtick.  This is a video post from him thanking the spiritual mentors in his life.  I love how humble and gracious this dude is.
  3. My pastor, Brandon Thomas, is doing some posts right now on Vision and Unity.  He also made he world debut on Cremeans Couch.  Check him out!
  4. Great, practical post from Jeff Kapusta on how he structures his daily time with God.  Very helpful.
  5. Very funny skit from SNL.  Watch this first, and then this.  Great impression of Mark Wahlberg.

Links of the Week

It’s Friday . . . it’s links time.  Enjoy!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the return of college football.

Links of the Week

It’s Friday and it’s time for me to help you kill some time at work.  Enjoy!

  • Talk about choosing the wrong house to rob . . . get’em grandma!
  • Looks like Seinfeld is making a return to TV . . . in Microsoft ads.  Seems weird to me, not that there’s anything wrong with that.
  • Ever wonder which US Colleges produce the most Olympians?  Well wonder no more.
  • Have you ever heard of Jott?  I’ve been using the service for a while and love it.  It just came out of beta and is worth a look if you need a way to manage tasks, make notes, etc. while on the go.
  • Looks like Major League Baseball will be adding instant replay soon.   Thoughts?
  • In iPhone news, it looks like some folks are suing Apple over connection issues.  Interested to see if this comes to anything at all . . . doubt it will.
  • And finally, what I am sure will come to a big shock to all, the Bigfoot Discovery was a hoax.  Man, I did NOT see that coming.

Have a great weekend.

Links of the Week

Hope everyone had a great week.  Enjoy the links and enjoy your weekend.

  1. I am digging the Olympics.  I’ve probably watched more of these Olympics than any other Olympics ever.  There’s been some controversy too.  First, China decides a little girl is not cute enough to be on camera and replaces her with a cuter girl.  Wow.  Then, it comes out that China seems to be using girls that are too young to compete.  Nice job China, you somehow found a way to make looks and age an issue.  Do you want to punch a kitten as well?
  2. Check out this reporter and his 24-hour non-stop viewing of the Olympics.  He only did it for one day, but it’s still pretty cool.
  3. I talked about Elevation Church yesterday, but wanted to share something else today.  Recently they did a spontaneous baptism at their church and baptized of 1,000 people in two weekends!  In this link, they are sharing all the details about how they planned it so other churches can do the same thing.  I love it!
  4. Funny pic from the Department of Redundancy Department.
  5. This is a great post by Seth Godin about how to leverage technology to improve customer service experiences.  Lots of implication for church and the business world; basically anyone that works with people.
  6. Many times over the past few weeks, I’ve felt myself saying, “if I only had _______, we’d be set as a church.”  Bobby Gruenewald thinks that is bad thinking and I agree.
  7. Some dudes in Georgia (the state, not the country) claim they have a dead Bigfoot in their freezer.  Yeah, I said Bigfoot.  Welcome to the South.
  8. Perry Noble had an amazing blog this week about how to get past the mistakes we’ve made in the past.  Definitely worth a read.
  9. Finally, my oldest son David turned three this week.  My wife wrote a post that is so sweet, there’s no way I could have done better so just go read hers.
