iPhone 3G Launch

So, did you get one today?  I did not.  I tried, but failed.  Here in SC we only have AT&T stores, no beautiful Apple Stores.  I did not get up early or anything and tried a few stores around lunchtime, all to no avail.  Everyone of the stores was sold out.

I saw this interesting article about Apple possibly “manufacturing” a sell-out today by limiting the supply in stores.  Based on my experience, I think I agree.  I was told by a store manager that he had more in the back but could not sell them until tomorrow.

Any stories out there?  Did you get one?  Were you shut out as well?

I still love Apple and will try to get one soon, but I have to be honest, I just don’t understand intentionally having less product than you need in order to create a sense of “wow, they sold out.”  I would much rather have the sense of “wow, I really love my new iPhone.”

Oh well, I’ll try again this weekend, I guess.

A Few New Features Today

Just wanted to point out that I’ve added a few new features to the blog today.  OK, so really only two but I did it myself and I’m pretty proud.

  1. On the right side of the page under the “Navigation” heading, I’ve added a link called “My Places.”  It’s a page that basically contains all the links to my web life.  It has a link to my Facebook, my Twitter, and LinkedIn for now.  As I become even more “connected” on the web, I’ll add more links.  By all means, if you are a part of any or all of these sites, please friend me, follow me, or whatever so we can connect.
  2. I also added another link under the same heading, this one says “Email Me.”  Now this one is pretty complicated.  You click it if, get this, you want to email me.  Now I know many of you have no desire to email me, but some have asked so I wanted to make it easier to contact me directly if you wish rather than through the comments.
I hope you enjoy these new features.  While we are discussing features, is there anything you would like to see added to the blog that is missing?  I would love your input.

Less than a Week . . .

So, the new iPhone comes out in less than a week.  I recently discovered that here in the metropolis of Myrtle Beach, there are no Apple Stores (of course) nor any AT&T stores.  The closest one is in Georgetown about 45 minutes away.  Also, they aren’t allowing online purchases of the new iPhone so it may be awhile before I get to make my purchase.

So, who in blogland is taking the 3G plunge?

Update: Lines are already forming.  Just crazy.

Helpful Hints from your Favorite Blogger

OK, maybe not your favorite, but at least your favorite blogger that is starting a church in Myrtle Beach, SC right?

Anyway, today I wanted to try and make your life a little easier.  Since this blog launched, I have developed a decent number of consistent readers, the vast majority of whom visit the site 2-4 times per week to see if I have made a new entry.  Very few take advantage of what I am about to share with you.

I want to encourage you to conisder using a blog reader.  I use Google Reader (which requires a google account).  Other folks I know use and love Bloglines.  Either way, they are huge time savers.

Basically, you subscribe through your reader to the blogs you like to follow.  Every time someone updates their blog, it is automatically sent and updated in your reader, meaning, you can visit one place and see which blogs are updated without having to visit each site individually.  This saves a ton of time and allows me follow almost 60 blogs right now with very little effort.

To subscribe to this blog, copy this address into your readers “add blog” feature: http://feeds.feedburner.com/TreyKelly

Or you can simply click “Subscribe by Feed” under the “Subscribe” section on the top right side of this page.  Most blogs contain this feature as well.

Hope that helped and saves you some time.  I am curious to know how many people know about readers, yet don’t use them.  My wife is that way.  She would much rather visit each site one by one.  I don’t understand that at all.  Give me some feedback.
