So I Wrote this Letter . . .

As I mentioned yesterday, today I want to share a way that you can partner with Wellspring Church.  Many of you have asked how you can help so I wanted to take some time to let you know the best way you can support what we are doing.

I recently sent a letter to a small group of people that have known me and my family for a long time.  I asked them to consider praying for Wellspring and partnering financially with Wellspring to help us as we launch this new church.  Today I want to share that letter with the readers of this blog to let you know how you can partner with us as well.

For anyone interested in reading the letter, you can find it here.

If you did read the letter, I appreciate it.  As I said in the letter, the main thing I am asking people to do is to commit to praying for Wellspring once a week.  The prayer of people and the guiding of the Holy Spirit are two of the key ingredients to the success of Wellspring Church.  In addition to that request, I am asking people to pray and ask God if he would have them partner with us financially.

If you would like to commit to pray and/or partner financially with Wellspring, you can find a commitment card here.

I encourage everyone interested in partnering with Wellspring to print out this card, complete it, and mail it to the address on the card.  If you have any questions, feel free to email me so we can set up a time to talk.

Also, if you know of anyone that currently does not read this blog but you think they might be interested in partnering with what we are doing here at Wellspring, please forward them a link to this blog or the letter.

I am truly confident that God has already begun moving in the hearts of those that he wants to use to fund the vision of Wellspring Church.  What I am doing with this post is simply trying to make the opportunity known so that those people God has led or will lead to parter with us will know how to make that partnership happen.

I thank each of you for taking the time to read the letter and know that you will give this request the prayerful consideration it deserves.  I appreciate all the love and support I receive from my readers and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hopefully I’ll have some more very exciting news very soon.

Until then, thanks for reading and thanks for praying.

Quick Hits for Wednesday

Thanks so much to everyone that bought a tarp and sent it to Healing Place.  I’ve seen the call for help all over the web and I am sure that we’ve made a difference in the lives of the folks in Baton Rouge.

As one storm comes to a close, it looks like the Gulf Coast is getting ready for another.  Ike looks to be bearing down on the east coast of Texas and I am sure that many churches down there will need help as well.  As opportunities arise, I’ll be sure to pass them along.

In other news, here are a few “quick hits” for a Wednesday afternoon:

  • Sickness seems to be living in my house this week.  David has a cold, Jon has pneumonia and I have a cold.  Dani is the only “healthy one.”  Not fun.
  • Dani also started her new job at a local preschool this week which means that I’ve been staying home with Jon.  As many of you know, I’m not a very good “Mr. Mom” so it has been quite the week.
  • Some pretty cool developments for Wellspring this week.  We’ve decided on a logo (I’ll show you soon,) we are developing our website and there’s one more major development that I just can’t tell you about yet but know you will LOVE!  Don’t you dig suspense?
  • The presidential race is heating up and starting to get crazy.  Honestly, this is the time of year that I actually STOP liking politics.  Both sides have turned to attacking each other and taking things completely out of context.  I don’t like it and it makes me sad that those types of things are what works.  Personally, I think we deserve better.
  • I’m excited about the return of Fall TV, but not as excited as usual.  Granted, I have other things on my mind but I’m not sure there is any new show this fall I’m stoked about.  Any suggestions?
Tomorrow I’ll be posting about a way each and everyone of you can get involved in Wellspring and what we are going to be doing here in Myrtle Beach.  I’m excited about what I’ll be sharing tomorrow and hope you will be as well.

Change of Plans and Random Thoughts

No “links” this week.  Honestly, there just weren’t that many things that merited sharing this week.

With the impending arrival of Tropical Storm Hanna, we are going to postpone our Landing Block Party until Saturday, September 20.  The calendar has been updated as well.

Some Thoughts:

  • Now that the conventions are over, who do you think did the best job making their case to the nation?  What did you love?  What bothered you the most?
  • Looking forward to the Cowboys opening game this weekend.  Maybe at least one team I love can live up to their expectations.
  • The below picture sums up my feelings about Gamecock football which lost to Vanderbilt last night.

Oh good grief.

Tonight

Well tonight is the first official event for Wellspring Church.  Starting tonight, I’ll have a weekly gathering at my home until we launch weekly services.  This gathering is open to everyone and will start at 6:30 pm.

These weekly gatherings will be a time of me casting the vision for what Wellspring will be, teaching, training for our launch and answering any questions.  If you are at all interested in Wellspring, these times will be a perfect opportunity for you to check us out and get any questions answered that you might have.  If you have kids, we will have childcare available as well.

For more info and directions to my house, click on the “Wellspring Events” link at the top right corner of the page.  I hope to see many people tonight as we start this next chapter of the Wellspring journey.  We can’t wait!

Quick Request

Hello all!  Just a quick post today to ask you be in prayer for the Block Party of September 6.  Dani and I have been planning today and it’s gotten a lot bigger than we first thought, which is really exciting!  RIght now, it looks like we’ll be inviting over 120 families to our home and hopefully we’re going to have a bounce house for the kids too.

It’s been really exciting planning this event because I have literally felt the hand of God on me as new ideas come, directions change, etc.  Honestly, it feels like things are really starting for Wellspring and I’m just so excited that I had to share.

Please pray for our neighbors that God will soften their hearts to be receptive to our invitation.  I know this is the first step God is asking Wellspring to take and I want to make the best “first impression” possible.

As I mentioned before, if you are interested in attending and/or helping with this event, please email me.

This party, coupled with the start of my weekly meetings with our Launch Team on Sept. 2, is making for a really exciting few weeks.  I’ve added a link to the top right corner of the blog to keep us with all Wellspring Events.  Check it out!
